Silverchain calls for new volunteers in WA
New Year, new volunteers: Silverchain calls for help to make a difference. Australia’s leading home care provider Silverchain is looking for passionate volunteers ready to make a difference to the lives of Western Australians.
Lily Meszaros, Silverchain’s Volunteer Resources Manager, said volunteers were essential.
“Volunteers play a vital role at Silverchain, offering personal and impactful support that allows our clients to stay connected to their community and live independently at home,” Ms Meszaros said.
“Every small act of kindness goes a long way in combatting loneliness and enriching lives, both for our clients and volunteers.”
Silverchain offers numerous volunteer roles that cater to various interests and skills, such as providing social support, transport, explaining technology, helping with social activities in our Social Centres or with group outings, or by providing companionship and respite care for people and their families receiving palliative care.
Silverchain is currently seeking palliative care volunteers in Perth’s far northern suburbs, including Yanchep and surrounding areas, and eastern suburbs including Guildford. Further south, transport volunteers are required in the Bunbury area, and social centre volunteers are also needed in Rockingham and Mandurah to help with group activities and transport support.
Ms Meszaros said volunteers at Silverchain enjoyed numerous benefits.
"As a Silverchain volunteer, you will get to meet people and make new friends, connect and engage with your local community, gain valuable community care experience, boost your confidence and learn new skills, and take part in activities that improve your own health and wellbeing,” Ms Meszaros said.
Each volunteer receives training, regular check-ins, and ongoing support from a dedicated Volunteer Coordinator, ensuring they feel equipped and valued in their role.
To be a volunteer, you need to be over 18 years old and have a current National Police check. No qualifications or work experience are needed, and we offer flexible hours to meet your needs. If you’re ready to make a difference, visit silverchain.org.au/volunteer or email volunteer@silverchain.org.au for more information and to start the application process.
