Read a list of frequently asked questions that supporters have regarding bequests and leaving a gift in their Will to Silverchain.

What about my family and loved ones?

We understand that those closest to you will always be your priority. When planning your Will, it’s important to think about your family, friends, pets, and the charitable causes and organisations that have meant so much to you in your lifetime.

Many people find that they can support their loved ones and the causes they care about by choosing a residual bequest. Put simply, this is a gift of all or a part of the residue of your estate after you’ve taken care of your loved ones and responsibilities.

How much should I leave to Silverchain in my Will?

Any amount you choose to give will be appreciated by Silverchain and the clients and families set to benefit from our work. With your support we are creating a care system that improves quality of life for people and drives a better standard of health and aged care for all Australians.

Our brochure Leaving a gift in your Will: a legacy of care can help you with some suggested wording to help you make your gift. Whether that be a percentage of your estate, a fixed amount, or a specific gift. Call 1300 650 803 or email us for a copy or click here for suggested wording.

What do I need to include in my Will?

Everyone’s individual circumstances and family situation is different. Therefore, it is important to seek independent legal advice that takes into account your circumstances and your wishes for your estate.

If I've already made a Will, how can I still make a gift to Silverchain?

If you have already made your Will and now want to include Silverchain, we recommend you speak to a solicitor on how best to do this.

Wouldn’t it be better to donate now rather than later?

This is completely up to you and depends on your personal and financial circumstances. Some people that support Silverchain with regular gifts or donate to our appeals have also remembered us in their Wills. For others, the gift in their Will is the only donation they make to Silverchain.

Do I need to tell Silverchain that I’m leaving a gift?

We would love to thank you personally for your thoughtful and generous decision to include Silverchain in your Will, welcome you as a Silver Link and talk to you about how your gift may be used. However, we understand you may prefer to keep your decision private.

Can I change my mind?

We know that circumstances sometimes change so if you want to change your mind about including Silverchain in your Will we completely respect your decision. We would appreciate it if you let us know by contacting us on 1300 650 803 or bequests@silverchain.org.au

I’d like to find a lawyer to help me with my will – can you help?
