When preparing your Will, we recommend you take care of your loved ones and responsibilities first, and then consider including a charitable gift that best suits your personal circumstances.

It is important to word your Will correctly.

We recommend speaking to a legal professional to assist you to plan and write your will. You can find a link to your state Law Society to help with this on our Frequently asked questions page.

Some examples of how to include a gift to Silverchain in your Will are:

  • Residual gift (ie. a percentage of or remainder of your estate)
  • Pecuniary gift (ie. a fixed amount)
  • Specific gift (ie. shares, specific property or item)

Residual gift

A residual gift is a portion or percentage of, or the remainder of your estate, after all other gifts, taxes, and debts have been fulfilled. This may be written in your Will as:

“I give the residue of my estate to Silverchain Foundation Ltd of 6 Sundercombe Street, Osborne Park, Western Australia 6017 for its general purposes and a receipt from an authorised representative of the beneficiary shall be deemed proof of payment.”

Pecuniary gift

A pecuniary gift is a stated sum of money. This may be written as:

“I give the sum of $ …… to Silverchain Foundation Ltd of 6 Sundercombe Street, Osborne Park, Western Australia 6017 for its general purposes and a receipt from an authorised representative of the beneficiary shall be deemed proof of payment.”

Specific gift

A specific gift involves leaving an item of value to Silverchain. Here’s how you could write this in your Will:

“I give my …… to Silverchain Foundation Ltd of 6 Sundercombe Street, Osborne Park, Western Australia 6017 for its general purposes and a receipt from an authorised representative of the beneficiary shall be deemed proof of payment.”

Please Note: While we are happy to discuss how a gift in your Will to Silverchain can make a meaningful impact and provide wording examples, we cannot provide legal advice. You should seek independent legal advice to suit your individual circumstances.
