Your Support at Home funding can include ongoing and pathway funding depending on your assessed needs.

Your Support at Home Budget may consist of many things, depending upon the funding you have been approved for. It may include:

Your budget will be split evenly across the year for you to pay for services you need. This means you will receive a quarterly budget every three months, that outlines the cost of your care, and how your budget will be used to pay for the support/care you need. It is developed alongside your Care Plan. 

If you receive funding for Assistive Technology and Home Modifications, you can spend the full amount of funds straight away.

Support at Home ongoing funding levels


The Support at Home program has eight different funding levels which can increase as your needs change, from needing a little help at home to more complex health care. This means that you can receive the right amount of support to remain safe, independent, and connected to your community living at home.
 
For example, Level 1 funding is suitable if you need assistance with weekly grocery shopping or meal preparation. If you require Personal Care services such as help with showering or getting dressed, you may require Level 3 funding.

The table below outlines the eight levels of funding in the Support at Home program, to help you understand the type of services it could cover.

As your care needs change over time, you can be reassessed to access a higher level of funding.

Rolling over funds


Unspent funds of up to $1,000 or 10% of your budget (whichever is higher) can be rolled over to the next quarter for ongoing services. This means you can pay for additional care if anything unexpected happens, like if your carer is unable to support you, or you are discharged from an unexpected hospital stay.

You cannot rollover any funds for short term pathways such as Restorative Care, or any unspent funds greater than $1,000 or 10% of your total package.

Your financial contribution


The Australian Government expects all people to contribute towards the cost of their care, if they can afford to do so.

Your contributions go towards your Support at Home Budget. The amount you may be required to pay is determined by Services Australia and is based on an Income and Assets Assessment.

Refer to us
Health professionals can refer patients for government funded aged care services by using the My Aged Care online referral tool, or by calling 1800 200 422. You can also make an e-referral from your practice management system.

For private services, patients do not require a referral or assessment and can contact us directly. However, you can contact us on a patient’s behalf by calling 1300 300 122.
