Protecting our community together. Keeping our clients and employees safe.
Infectious diseases such as flu like illness including COVID 19 and influenza, gastro and others can make us unwell and can easily spread to others. At Silverchain we recognise that this is a real concern for our clients, their loved ones and our employees. We are committed to doing all we can to break the chain of infection, and protect our clients, employees and others.
Active steps we take to prevent infection
- Reviewing processes
At Silverchain we regularly review our infection prevention and control measures to ensure they are appropriate, evidence based and meet approved standards. We also undertake quality assurance checks to ensure they are being adhered to. - Vaccination
All of our employees who work with our clients must be vaccinated, and, or know their immunity status to vaccine preventable diseases such as COVID 19, influenza, hepatitis B, measles, mumps, rubella, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough) and chickenpox. - Staying home if unwell
Our employees are not permitted to work when they are unwell. To support this approach, we ensure that we enough employees to cover all client service shifts. This allows them to get better and prevents the further spread of illness. - Client screening
We always ask questions before we enter a client’s home or your appointment to one of our clinics. You can still receive your essential services if you are unwell. Letting us know if you are feeling unwell allows our team members to assess any risks and wear if required appropriate PPE (eg gown, gloves, mask) to keep them and others safe. Depending on your needs and personal preference, non essential services may be rescheduled until you are feeling better. - Employee choice
Even when masks are not mandatory, our employees are allowed to make a personal choice to wear one if it makes them feel safer. We ask that you respect this choice to wear a mask when it is optional. - Following regulatory requirements
We continue to follow all advice from the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care, as well as individual state government and other approved regulatory requirements.
How you can help
Please take these simple steps to keep us all safe:
- Tell us if you are unwell or have been in contact with someone who has an infectious illness such as COVID 19, influenza or gastro.
- Remember your hygiene measures. Cover your nose and mouth when you sneeze or cough and wash your hands often with soap and running water or use an alcohol based hand sanitiser.
- As an extra precaution and if it makes you feel safer, tell us if you want our employees to wear a mask in your home.
- Stay informed; follow advice from the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care.
