Silverchain is governed by a Board of Directors, led by our Chair, Mr Haydn Chrystal, and eight highly respected leaders who have a wealth of experience in health, aged care, and commerce.
The Board is responsible for several entities including Silver Chain - Victoria Limited, Silverchain Care Pty Ltd (formerly Kincare Health Services), Kincare Management Pty Ltd, Silver Chain Foundation Limited, the Royal District Nursing Service of SA Limited, and the Access Care Network Australia (ACNA).
Working closely with Silverchain’s leadership team, the Board:
- Sets the strategic direction of the Group’s entities.
- Monitors organisational performance.
- Ensures effective, appropriate, and ethical standards of behaviour.
- Approves and monitors corporate governance of Silverchain’s entities to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and statutory requirements, including environmental, clinical and occupational health and safety requirements.

Our Board members
Haydn Chrystal
BE (Elec), MBA, FAIM, MAICD
Haydn was appointed Chair of Silverchain’s Board from 1 January 2025 and has been a member of the Board since 2010. Haydn brings more than 35 years of experience as Executive Chairman for the Chrystal Group, and as a Non-Executive Director on various boards.
Dr Alex Cockram
MBBS, MMed (Psychiatry), RANZCP, GAICD
Dr Alex Cockram was appointed to the Silverchain Board in January 2021.
Alex’s experience at both Board and operational levels includes a diverse range of health services and government organisations. Alex continues to provide advice to the government and industry and is Chair of the Board's Clinical Governance Committee.
Robert Knowles
AO, AICD
The Hon Rob Knowles was appointed to the RDNS Board in August 2009 and the Silverchain Board in September 2011.
Rob served 24 years in the Victorian Parliament and was Minister for Health, Aged Care and Housing. Rob serves as a Director on several boards, and he is the Chair of the Board's Research and Innovation Committee.
Michael Still
MBA
Michael joined Silverchain Board in August 2014. He holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the Macquarie Graduate School of Management.
Michael has a career spanning 30 years in corporate leadership within Australia and globally. Michael serves as a Director on several Boards, and he is Chair of our Strategic Finance and Investment Committee, and Chair of the ACNA Board.
Susan Neuhaus AM CSC
MBBS, PhD, FRACS, FAICD, FAMA
Susan joined the Silverchain Board in 2025. She is a surgeon and distinguished ex-Army officer with extensive experience as a non-executive director. Susan is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, holds academic appointments at several universities, and is on the Roll of Fellows of the Australian Medical Association. Susan has broad experience as a Director across defence, health and research, government and NFP sectors and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Shane Solomon
BSW, MA, GAICD, Adj Prof UTS
Shane has more than 35 years of international and national healthcare senior management expertise. Shane joined the Board in October 2017.
Shane is Chair, SA Health EMR Board, Director of Barwon Health and Member of Council of Australasian College of Surgeons. He provides health strategy and advisory services and holds Non-Executive Director roles.
Brent Cubis
GAICD, CA, BCom
Brent Cubis was appointed to the Silverchain Board in June 2022. He is a Non-Executive Director and CFO with over 20 years Board level experience with particular focus in the health care, advanced manufacturing, media, property, hospitality and not for profit sectors.
Cheryl Chan
LLB(Hons), BCom, MAHRI, FAICD
Cheryl was appointed to the Board in August 2023. Cheryl has held several senior leadership roles as a lawyer, specialising in employment and discrimination law.
Cheryl is an experienced Board Director, currently serving several Boards and committees in the public, not for profit and arts sectors.
Di Mantell
BHSc (Mgt) and GAICD
Di was appointed to the Board in January 2025. Di is a former nurse and Executive Director of Nursing and has 25 years’ experience as a non-executive and executive director, as well as General Manager of FM Services at Fiona Stanley Hospital. Di is the Chief Executive of Celsus, one of the most significant public-private partnerships in Australia, overseeing the financing, development and operational management of the infrastructure and non-clinical services at the Royal Adelaide Hospital.
