Helping you and your loved ones take a well earned rest.
Respite Support is a service that gives your carers or family members the chance to take a break to rest and recharge. Our care team provides temporary care for you, so they can take a planned break to relax, attend appointments, or do something they enjoy.
We work with you and your carer to design a care plan for you. This can include spending time with you at home or going on outings in the community for a few hours at a time, while your carer or family has a break.
Silverchain offers a range of respite support, depending on the level of care approved with your Aged Care assessment and availability:
- In-home respite support: Our care team can spend time with you during the day, doing the things you love. They might provide transport and support with activities you choose, like going to football games, church, shopping, or for a meal at a café.
- Social Centre day respite: Available in Western Australia (WA), we provide a range of indoor and outdoor activities for older people. It is a good chance to socialise with friends. Click here to learn more about our Social Centres.
- Social Support Group outings: Available in WA and regional Victoria (VIC). You can choose a place to visit in the community, and we can assist with transport.
- Privately funded respite support: Available in WA, South Australia (SA), and Queensland (QLD), and in Melbourne (VIC) through Silverchain Private Care. Call our Private Care team today on 1300 771 872 or complete the form below.
The amount of respite support you can access
- The amount of respite support you could receive depends on the amount of your aged care funding and the total cost of any other services that you wish to receive. Alternatively you can choose to self-fund as much Respite Care that you would like.
- If you need an aged care assessment, first contact My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 or myagedcare.org.au.
- You will be asked to set up an online account when you request an aged care assessment.
Funding Respite care through Home Care Packages (HCP) or Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP)
- If you are eligible for aged care funding through My Aged Care (MAC), you can choose to spend your funding on respite care.
- Depending on the level and type of government funding you receive, you may need to financially contribute to the cost of respite support. The amount you will be asked to pay will depend on the level of funded care you are eligible to receive.
- There are also some costs to receive services from Silverchain, as your provider. These are paid for through your funding and can include package management and care management costs.
