Connect Well pilot supports survivors in SE NSW
Survivors of family, domestic and sexual violence in crisis accommodation will have greater access to health care and support in South Eastern New South Wales thanks to Connect Well, a partnership between COORDINARE and Silverchain.
Officially launched by the Federal Assistant Minister for Health and Aged Care, Rebecca White MP, the Connect Well pilot is a holistic approach to delivering support and health care to support victim-survivors, protect their privacy and help them recover.
The Federal Government has provided almost $1 million to deliver the two year pilot that will bring primary health care into crisis accommodation, making it easier for women and children experiencing domestic, sexual and family violence to access ongoing, integrated support.
Silverchain’s Executive Director, South Australia & East Coast Tamra Bridges said the Connect Well pilot reinforces the organisation’s commitment to delivering its best care promise to every person, every time.
“Silverchain has a strong history of delivering health care to some of Australia’s most vulnerable people and communities, and we are proud to partner with COORDINARE to deliver this service,” Ms Bridges said.
“Health care professionals such as nurses are often the first people victim-survivors turn to for help, especially when dealing with injuries relating to domestic violence or mental health issues caused by abuse.
“By working closely with COORDINARE and local GPs, we’re ensuring victim survivors of family, domestic and sexual violence in South Eastern NSW get access to care and support across the entire health system to move forward and recover,” Ms Bridges said.
The Connect Well pilot will provide accommodation services in Eurobodalla, Goulburn and the Shoalhaven with access to a team of health care professionals including on-site GPs, nurses and service navigators.
