Older Australians and their families will have another opportunity to get answers about Australia’s new Support at Home program, with Australia’s leading home care specialist, Silverchain, bringing its free community Information Sessions back to communities across WA by popular demand.
Following strong interest in sessions held across metropolitan and regional WA in March, April and May, Silverchain will host a further 13 sessions from September through to February 2027 across Perth, the South West and the Great Southern.
Support at Home is a government-funded in home aged care program designed to help older people stay at home for longer, with services tailored to assessed care needs.
As the aged care system continues to change, the sessions will help older people and their families understand what the changes mean for them – including new service categories, personal contributions, care plans and available support.
Cassandra Tobin, WA General Manager Care Partnering, said Silverchain was committed to providing quality, compassionate and person-centred care.
“Our experienced local care teams will explain how the new program works, what has changed and how to get the most out of your Support at Home package,” Ms Tobin said.
“Attendees will also learn about service categories, inclusions, contributions and the variety of support available.”
While Support at Home replaced Home Care Packages and Short Term Restorative Care in 2025, the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) continues to operate and is expected to transition to Support at Home in 2027. People currently receiving support through CHSP are encouraged to attend to learn more about the changes ahead.
Each session will include time for questions and the opportunity to speak directly with Silverchain staff.
For those who can't make it to an Information Session, Silverchain care teams will also be in attendance at six community expos across Perth and Mandurah, to help people access information and connect with local support.
