New roadmap drives Access & Inclusion goals
Silverchain has launched its inaugural Access and Inclusion Plan, setting out commitments to strengthen disability inclusion across its workforce, services, physical spaces and digital platforms.
With one in five Australians living with disability, Silverchain’s Access and Inclusion Plan adopts a social model of inclusion, recognising that barriers come not from individuals but from environments and systems that exclude them.
Silverchain’s Chief Executive, Dale Fisher AM, said the Access and Inclusion Plan is vital to delivering on the organisation’s community impact and inclusion commitments.
“As a national provider of in home health and aged care, Silverchain is uniquely positioned to ensure people with disability have equitable access to our services and employment opportunities,” Ms Fisher said.
Ms Fisher said organisations that embed accessibility consistently outperform those that treat it as an afterthought. “Many people with disabilities face systemic, cultural and environmental barriers that limit their access to services, employment and full participation. When we remove those barriers, we unlock talent, expand our reach and tap into perspectives we’re currently missing.
“When we design for disability, we design for everyone. Our Access and Inclusion Plan sets out clear actions, ownership and support so we can all contribute to creating a better home care system for all Australians.”
Over the next three years, Silverchain will continue to embed disability inclusion across every level of the organisation. The plan provides a clear framework to track progress, including quarterly reviews, annual reporting and measurable outcomes across employee satisfaction, client accessibility and service quality.
“We are committed to becoming a disability confident organisation where every person can participate fully and contribute their unique strengths. This will improve outcomes for people with disabilities and strengthen the communities we serve.”
