The 2023-24 financial year was focused on innovation and impact.
The future of care in the home in Australia and internationally is shaped by new discoveries.
This year, we joined forces with global partners, Sheba Beyond and ARC, and Datos Health, to fast-track digitally enabled care and remote monitoring to our clients and our partners.
Our partnership with global health technology leader Datos Health will deliver an application designed for patient care and a remote monitoring platform as part of Silverchain’s digitally enabled care in the home. This innovative technology will allow our care teams to better manage clients’ health while also empowering clients to take a more active role in their own care.
We successfully expanded our use of smart glasses, improving safety and access to care for clients’ in various settings. These high tech glasses are now helping our care teams in palliative care, hospital in the home, aged care, and wound care. This is just one example of how we’re embracing new and emerging technology to shape the future of health and aged care in the home.
In Victoria, we commenced a clinical trial of the groundbreaking Enhancing the Management of home-Based Elders with Depression (EMBED) program to help older people living with anxiety and depression. The early results are promising and will guide how we expand this important program into other states. This pilot will deliver psychological treatments using telehealth in addition to using a tablet device to access a range of digital resources to support clients’ wellbeing.
At Silverchain, we are committed to supporting carers to care for their loved ones without becoming exhausted, or emotionally, socially, and financially disadvantaged. With more than 2.65 million carers in Australia, we commenced the first of its kind research to explore and implement new models of care to support carers throughout their carer journey.
We completed a new evidence based framework to support in home aged care providers. The framework was developed in partnership with the National Ageing Research Institute, and will guide providers on how best to implement digital technologies in their everyday service delivery.
