Leading home care provider Silverchain Group has acquired KinCare, effective 1 July 2024.

With strong values alignment between the two organisations, the acquisition provides an opportunity for Silverchain to expand its aged care operations on the east coast and continue to provide high quality care at home for KinCare’s clients.

Silverchain Group Chief Executive Dale Fisher AM said the investment reflects Silverchain’s ambition to build a better home care system for all Australians.

“We welcome our new colleagues from KinCare, and look forward to supporting them as they continue to deliver safe and effective care for their clients,” Adjunct Professor Fisher said.

“As a leading health and aged care provider, we understand the care revolution that is coming in Australia will be driven by consumers and delivered by dedicated care and clinical professionals in the comfort and familiarity of home.

“We believe that everyone deserves the right to choose where they receive their care, and that home care helps keep you connected to your community. For 130 years, Silverchain has been revolutionising the way health and aged care is provided and transforming the way people can access care.

“Our key focus is ensuring continuity of care for those receiving KinCare’s services. We are committed to minimising any disruption to the care or services KinCare and Silverchain’s clients receive.

“This acquisition reflects the respect we have for KinCare. Silverchain will also benefit from KinCare’s digital investment as part of our own digital transformation.”

The acquisition includes KinCare Health Services Pty Ltd and KinCare Management Pty Ltd, with 1,300 employees providing care and services to more than 11,500 Home Care Package (HCP) or Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) clients.

Silverchain Group already provides HCP and CHSP services in Western Australia, Victoria, and South Australia (as RDNS Silverchain), with more than 21,300 in-home aged care clients. The Group also offers health care services in Western Australia, South Australia, Queensland, Victoria and New South Wales. The acquisition will expand Silverchain Group’s aged care presence into Queensland, New South Wales, Tasmania and Australian Capital Territory.

KinCare’s Chief Executive Bernadette Gotch said joining Silverchain Group would provide mutual benefit for the organisations.

“Silverchain has a long history and strong reputation for delivering high quality aged care. As we approach a period of needed reform and strengthened quality standards for in-home aged care, we will be able to learn from each other for the benefit of all our clients,” Ms Gotch said.

KinCare Health Services Pty Ltd and KinCare Management Pty Ltd will be managed as subsidiaries of Silver Chain Group Ltd for a period while relevant non-profit charity status is sought from the Australian Charities and Nonprofit Commission.
