New partnership fast tracks home pathology tests
A new partnership between Australia’s leading home care provider Silverchain and renowned pathology company Australian Clinical Labs (ACL) means pathology tests can be done at home more easily through a priority service initiative.
The priority at-home service will initially be provided to Silverchain’s eligible clients in Western Australia, ahead of a national rollout of the service for clients in South Australia, New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland.
Silverchain’s Executive Director, Western Australia Renae Lavell said the pathology at-home service would help improve access for clients who were too unwell to attend a pathology clinic or were otherwise unable to attend a clinic.
“This new service will provide an enhanced pathology service to our clients that will streamline the testing process as well as how results are reviewed,” Ms Lavell said.
“We know it can be difficult for some of our patients to attend a pathology clinic, so this will improve our service to them and ensure we have up to date information on their pathology results.”
ACL WA CEO Shae Seymour said the initiative would allow results to be easily accessible to Silverchain through ACL’s e-viewer, rather than a clinician having to wait for correspondence from the provider or call multiple providers to try to track down results.
“The benefits of the process include greater efficiencies, while more readily accessible results means smoother and safer client care,” Ms Seymour said.
The service is available for Silverchain clients who are unable to attend a community-based collection centre due to illness, mobility, disability or other constraints as assessed by the requesting clinician.
