Silverchain has won five awards at the prestigious LearnX Live Awards, recognising our blended online and in person onboarding and induction program and an innovative online mental health training for aged care employees.

The LearnX Live Awards recognise outstanding achievements in learning, development, and talent management across various sectors. This follows Silverchain’s wins in 2021 for its Induction and Onboarding program.

Silverchain’s Director of People & Culture, Melinda Smit, said the recognition underscores our commitment to investing in our 5,900 employees to create a better home care system for all Australians.

“These awards are a testament to Silverchain’s dedication to innovation and excellence in health care education, and we’re proud to be recognised as a leader in this field,” Ms Smit said.

“They also highlight the pioneering efforts of our learning design team, who leverage best practices in health care education and technology to enhance the employee experience at Silverchain.”

Three of the LearnX Live awards were in recognition of a new mental health training program as part of Silverchain’s Enhanced Management of home-Based

Elders with Depression (EMBED) model of care, which is being trialled in Western Australia and South Australia after a successful pilot in Victoria.

The model includes training designed to upskill home aged care workers in recognising the signs and symptoms of depression and anxiety, enabling timely treatment.

Using short animations and simple English, the training was co-designed by aged care and mental health clinicians and learning and development experts. It has been made available to all Silverchain employees to support their care and support work.

Silverchain’s Director of Research Discovery Adj Professor Tanya Davison said the awards reflect the organisation’s leadership in advancing the health and wellbeing of clients receiving aged care at home.

“In developing the EMBED model, we identified an opportunity to create mental health training specifically tailored for the in home aged care workforce, focusing on depression – the most common condition,” Adj Prof Davison said.

“Ultimately, Silverchain’s clients will benefit from better mental health support when accessing aged care at home, with the goal of improving their wellbeing and enabling them to remain in their homes for as long as possible.”

Now in its 16th year the LearnX Live awards have recognised more the 2,500 projects from more than 30 countries worldwide, including hundreds of initiatives in Australia. They are considered among the most prized accolades for learning, talent and skill development.
