Silverchain strengthens reconciliation commitment
Leading in-home health and aged care provider Silverchain has increased its commitment to fostering a fair and just health care system for all as part of its new Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan.
As Silverchain’s third Reconciliation Action Plan, it outlines the inititiatives that will be delivered to improve our services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and contribute to reconciliation.
Chief Executive Dale Fisher said the Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) 2022-2024 marks an important moment in Silverchain’s 130 year history.
“Our vision for reconciliation is a fair and just health care system embedded in social justice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities, in the pursuit of health equality and a united Australia,” Ms Fisher said.
“Our aspiration is to create a better home care system for all Australians. Our Innovate RAP gives us the opportunity to build towards this aspiration by improving the delivery of services in the community and building stronger relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.”
The Innovate RAP was developed through a co-design process with many stakeholders from across Silverchain’s national reach, and will provide a framework to strengthen understanding between employees, stakeholders and the community.
It is focused on the key themes of developing relationships, showing respect, and increasing opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, with key actions, outcomes, responsibilities, and timelines to ensure accountability and transparency against progress.
“Ultimately, reconciliation is about building mutual respect, equity and positive relationships, and this Innovate RAP is our next step in this important process,” Ms Fisher said.
